Biography

I was born in 1973 and grew up on the island of Sotra in Western Norway. Although some artistic talent could be seen from an early age, my interest in science directed my choice of education. 1992-1996 I studied at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Since 1997 my work has been at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, currently as a senior scientist in the fields of radar technology and automatic object recognition.

I am autodidact as a painter. Since 2000 I have taken this recreational activity more seriously and put more effort into my oil paintings. It is however a challenge to find time for it as I still have a full-time job.

I have always had a fascination with nature. That is what I want to share through my paintings. One who spends time in nature and has an open eye for the small things will notice the wealth of variety in shapes and colours, and how a multitude of inconspicuous details together can make up a great scenery. For my paintings to reflect this, I use colours that are true to the originals and include a relatively large amount of details.
